I have countless memories here at LSU. Memories going all the way back to the "Dirrrrty Herg" days! However, 3 years and 87 credits later, I am finally a SENIOR! I have been looking forward to this year ever since I started college. This journey was not easy. When I originally applied to LSU I wanted to be a Music Major for Vocal Performance. Then I was like " Naaaah, I really want to work in a Asylum". So I changed my major to Psychology. Why did I choose this? Who knows, because I don't even like to read and PSYC 2000 killed me my freshman year. (My first failing class.) Now I'm a Marketing major! It honestly took me a while to actually figure out what I wanted in life.
Even though I had declared a major I knew deep down I wanted to do something else. That there people is what college is all about, FINDING YOURSELF! Before you even go off to college, there will be so many people trying to tell you what direction to go. Especially people who don't even know you at all, but it's not about them. IT'S ABOUT YOU! Everyday I would research different types of jobs, or I would just sit down and have conversations with people to see what their plans are. I even took a test to help me decide what I wanted to. (It's the STRONG test btw, go to the career center.) Which was very helpful. It helped opened my eyes to jobs that I didn't even know existed. That's when I made my way to the E.J. Ourso College of Business.
I chose Marketing because its a very broad major. Marketing is used everywhere and it can be tied in with public relations, advertising, business planning, etc. I can really see myself on someones production team for a major company and I would really like to work for either a fashion, music, or pop culture type business/ company. This has been the goal for the past 2 years, but I have came up with tons of ideas along the way. So now is the time for me to actually put those ideas to work and aim towards the next step!!
In May 2017, I WILL be walking across that stage no matter what!! I have worked hard to get to where I am today and I will not stop till I finally find my rightful place in life. I strongly encourage each and everyone of you to always strive for better, and KEEP GOING! There was plenty of times where I wanted to just give up, but I couldn't do that to myself and my future.
