“If a man don’t stand for something, he don’t stand up for nothing.” This is a wise quote, Breelin Clark grandfather used. Today he lives by this principle and he will teach his kids in organization to do the same. “Phresh Starts” is a non-profit organization where Breelin teaches, equips, and empowers young men etiquette, manners, and dressing for success. More specif Breelin has always been passionate about this because he has been groomed since a child with these etiquette lessons
Breelin Clark is member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity at Louisiana State University. As an Alpha they are required to run programs for the community and the student body. Because of this requirement, this is how “Phresh Starts” came about. He didn’t think that one program would soon turn into a non-profit and still be growing towards a successful organization. He officially started “Phresh Starts” after a referral from his professor. Breelin pitched his idea in an assignment and the professor was in awe. His professor loved the idea so much, he earned a spotlight article in the Baton Rouge 225 Magazine.
Breelin is a Baton Rouge native. Because of the fact that Baton Rouge is such a small and slow city he feels that it’s easier for him to receive more support. Breelin is a rising star in the Baton Rouge Community. The East Baton Rouge School Board has recently accepted “Phresh Start” to be an official organization for their schools. Not only that, this summer Breelin ran a summer program with the YMCA. Soon Breelin will have his own classroom and office at one of the YMCA facilities in Baton Rouge. This will allow him and the children to be able to interact on a different level as well as operating his program.
As of now, Breelin is currently working on getting funding for his non-profit organization. His goal is to soon have a staff, and an internship program for high school students. He also wants to be able to issue ties for his students so they can practice at home. Another vision Breelin has is having fashion shows that goes along with his organization. He currently works for Al’s Formal wear, who was a previous sponsor for a show that Breelin did before.
Soon Breelin will be graduating as a double major at LSU. He will be receiving BS degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration of Psychology, Sociology and Leadership. Also, a BS degree in Psychology. His studies will give him a focus to enjoy the kids and to be become a professional role model. This will give him the confidence and the passion to keep “roarin’” in his twenties! We hope to see "Phresh Starts" bloom nationwide.
